We’ve all been there: a fragrance everyone seems to rave about that you just don’t get. For me, that fragrance is Memories Gold by Superz. There’s been a lot of hype around this scent, but after trying it out, I can honestly say it’s not for me. If you’re someone who enjoys bold, spicy scents, this one might be your cup of tea—but if you lean towards subtle, creamy fragrances like I do, then you might feel the same way I do about Memories Gold.
I decided to test Memories Gold on a visit to my grandma’s house. I thought, “Why not wear it out and see how it plays in a relaxed setting?” Well, it didn’t go as planned. As soon as I hugged my grandma, she pulled back slightly and said, “What is that scent? It’s a bit… strong.” Safe to say, she wasn’t a fan—and honestly, neither was I. I could feel the spiciness surrounding me, and it was intense, almost overpowering. I usually love when a fragrance gives me that cozy vibe, but instead, this one felt heavy and sharp.
To be fair, Memories Gold does have some beautiful notes that I truely like. It’s a blend of caramel, vanilla, and honey, which should add a deliciously creamy sweetness. But here’s the thing: that creamy base is totally overshadowed by an intense spiciness. Instead of balancing out, the spice takes over, giving it an edge that might be perfect for someone else, but it just doesn’t work for me. The creamy notes are definitely there, but they’re subtle, lurking beneath the layers of spice that dominate the fragrance.
I’ll admit, this blend is unique, and that’s likely why it has a bit of a cult following. However, for me, the spiciness takes away from the comfort that vanilla and caramel usually bring. I expected a warm, sweet experience but instead got a fragrance that’s more intense and fiery than cozy and inviting.
With all the buzz around Memories Gold, I really expected a showstopper. It’s one of those perfumes people talk about as being rich, indulgent, and addictive. But in my experience, it feels a little overhyped. Yes, it’s bold, and yes, it has a unique spicy kick, but if you’re someone who loves a fragrance that melts into your skin rather than making a big statement, this one might feel like a bit much. I enjoy a fragrance that feels like a warm hug or a light sweetness that lingers, and Memories Gold is more like a spiced punch. For me, it lacks the subtlety that I gravitate toward.
If you love fragrances that are strong, spicy, and leave a big impression, Memories Gold could be a winner for you. The combination of caramel, vanilla, and honey with that bold spiciness is undeniably unique, and I can see why people find it intriguing. But if you’re like me, preferring scents with a bit more restraint and softness, this one might be a bit too much.
So, while Memories Gold by Superz has its fans, it’s just not for me. I’ll be sticking with my more subtle, cozy fragrances—ones that are warm and creamy without that overpowering spice. It’s always good to try new things, but I think I’ll pass on this one!
Projection: 2/10 (or 9/10 if you love strong scents)
Memories Gold has massive projection, making it easy for others to notice—even when you’d rather they didn’t! For me, this is too powerful, but if you like a big, bold scent that projects across the room, this could be a 9/10.
Sillage: 3/10 (or 9/10 if you love strong sillage)
Again, I’m not a fan of heavy, lingering sillage, so my personal rating is low. But the sillage is undeniable—people will definitely know you've arrived and left. For someone who loves strong sillage, this could easily be a higher rating.
Longevity: 9/10
This is where Memories Gold shines. Once it’s on your skin, it’s on for the long haul. Even after trying to wash it off, it somehow sticks around, which is impressive if you want a scent that lasts.
Complexity: 8/10
The spices bring a unique twist that makes this more than just a creamy gourmand. If you’re after complexity in your perfumes, the blend of spice and creaminess is intriguing.
Uniqueness: 8.5/10
I haven’t come across many gourmands with such a strong spice presence. It’s memorable and different, though not in a way that works for me.
Likability by Others: 2/10
Turns out, I’m not alone in feeling like this fragrance is overpowering. My family, especially my grandma, found the spiciness overwhelming too. A subtle touch of spice can work, but this much was a miss for us.
Personal Preference: 3/10
In winter, I usually love cozy, creamy scents, but the spices here overshadow the comforting caramel, vanilla, and honey, making it feel too intense for my liking.
Price Value: 8/10
With a price of 115 EUR for 50ML, it’s fairly priced for its longevity and sillage. You’re definitely getting your money’s worth if you want a fragrance that won’t budge all day (or into the next).
