Escapade Gourmande by Maison Mataha, is it worth the hype?

When Escapade Gourmande by Maison Mataha arrived at our shop, it created a lot of buzz. Everyone was talking about it, and the fragrance quickly became the center of attention. People were excited, and the hype on the internet for this fragrance is also undeniable. Naturally, I was curious to see what all the fuss was about, and when I finally had the chance to try it, boy did this fragrance live up to its expectations. From the first spray, it captivated me with its elegant, warm vanilla notes. It wasn't just another sweet vanilla; it had depth, refinement, and an addictive quality that kept me coming back for yet another sniff.

Interestingly, when I first tried it, I immediately thought of my baby sister. This fragrance seemed like it was made for her—elegant yet subtle. When I visited her after an 8-hour shift at the office, I could still smell the scent lingering on me. The moment she gave me a hug, she asked, “What perfume is that?” I had anticipated she’d love it, so I brought a sample with me. A day later, she texted me, raving about how much she enjoyed it.

Escapade Gourmande’s projection is perfect for those who enjoy subtler perfumes. It’s not loud, but it’s noticeable to those close to you, creating a soft, intimate cloud around the wearer. The sillage is delicate, so it won’t leave a strong trail, which makes it ideal for everyday wear—especially in professional or casual settings. It lasted a good 8 hours on me, proving it has staying power without being overpowering.

While Bianco Latte didn’t resonate with me, Escapade Gourmande feels more elegant and sophisticated, with just the right amount of sweetness. It’s not just my go-to vanilla, but it has also become a favorite for my sister, making it an extra special fragrance in my collection.
