Rose de Jamal: A Fragrance Rooted in Story and Place

A few months ago, I came across Les Indémodables, a niche perfume house known for its dedication to artisanal craftsmanship and the use of the highest quality raw materials. Every fragrance they create is meticulously crafted, blending tradition with innovation. What sets them apart is their focus on sourcing rare and exceptional ingredients from around the world, and Rose de Jamal is a perfect example of this philosophy.

During a conversation with the brand’s owner, I got to learn more about the origins of Rose de Jamal and the stories behind the fragrances in the collection. What struck me most was the passion with which he spoke about this particular scent. It revolves around one of my favorite perfume notes: rose. But not just any rose—the heart of this fragrance is the Moroccan Damask rose, harvested in the lush, fertile valleys of Morocco.

But the story doesn’t end there. Rose de Jamal is dedicated to the person who supplies these precious roses, making it more than just a fragrance—it’s a heartfelt tribute to the artisans and farmers who make such beauty possible. The scent itself is lush and radiant, opening with fresh and green notes before revealing the warm, rich character of the Moroccan rose. It’s balanced with subtle spices and hints of wood, creating a complex yet comforting composition that lingers on the skin for hours.

I was so inspired by the story and its connection to Morocco that I decided Rose de Jamal would be the perfect fragrance to bring along on my work trip to the country. And it was. The climate in the region where I stayed was pleasantly mild, around 19°C, and the fragrance bloomed beautifully in that warmth. Its fresh yet deep character felt perfectly in tune with the serene atmosphere around me.

Over the course of the week, Rose de Jamal became more than just a perfume—it became a comforting companion, grounding me with its rich scent and reminding me of the deep connection between place, people, and the art of perfumery. Some fragrances are beautiful, but others tell a story. This one does both.
