For Silvia Martinelli, the granddaughter of a Tuscan perfumer, scent became a way to preserve the beauty of her childhood. Inspired by the lush gardens of Tuscany, she founded Giardini di Toscana, a brand dedicated to crafting timeless fragrances that reflect the soul of the region.
But in 2021, Silvia unknowingly created a modern legend—Bianco Latte.
The Rise of a Fragrance Icon
Bianco Latte burst onto the scene as a creamy, soft yet powerfully long-lasting vanilla fragrance. It was luxurious yet affordable, delicate yet strong, and had an undeniable charm that made it stand out in the crowded world of perfumery. After multiple bottle redesigns and a well-executed international marketing campaign, the fragrance quickly gained traction.
By 2023, Bianco Latte was everywhere. Influencers and fragrance lovers couldn’t get enough of its rich, comforting scent. The term “vanilla bomb” became synonymous with it, and its popularity soared beyond expectations.
As one of the first retailers in the Netherlands to stock Bianco Latte, we witnessed its meteoric rise firsthand. The first batch we received was mesmerizing—a rich, yellowish juice with an intensity that lingered on clothes for days, even after washing. Sales exploded from 20 to over 100 bottles per month, making it our best-selling fragrance almost overnight.
When Success Comes at a Cost
However, by 2024, cracks began to show in Bianco Latte’s legacy. It started with subtle changes—updates to labeling due to regulatory shifts—but then something more concerning happened.
The fragrance itself seemed different. Each new batch had a lighter color and a weaker scent. Customers began noticing, and their feedback confirmed our suspicions: Bianco Latte had lost some of its original depth and power.
Why? The answer lies in the challenges of mass production.
When a fragrance becomes a global sensation, demand skyrockets, and brands face immense pressure to keep up. This often leads to shortcuts in the production process. The most critical steps—maceration and aging—were shortened to meet the overwhelming demand.
In perfumery, maceration allows fragrance oils to blend seamlessly with alcohol, creating a balanced and well-rounded scent. Traditionally, this process takes months, ensuring the perfume reaches its full potential. But when production is rushed, the fragrance doesn’t have enough time to develop its signature richness and longevity.
Adding to the challenge was the rise of dupe brands. Companies like Lataffa, Alexandria, and Dua Fragrances released their own versions of Bianco Latte, further saturating the market and diverting attention from the original.

Is This the End for Bianco Latte?
Not necessarily. While recent batches may feel different, there’s still hope for Bianco Latte lovers. If you own a newer bottle and feel it lacks the magic of the original, you can restore its depth through a simple aging process:
- Spray a few generous spritzes to let some air into the bottle.
- Store it in a dark, cool space for several months.
- Be patient—when you return to it, you’ll likely notice the color deepening and the scent regaining its richness.
While hype and commercial pressures may have compromised Bianco Latte’s initial brilliance, its beauty is still there—it just needs time to shine again.
